Van Hasselt’s career in leadership roles with major industrial companies has always focused on creating profitable growth whether in integrated P&L, commercial line executive positions and board memberships or advisory roles in large consultancies and currently his own company.
Van Hasselt has deep experience in the energy marketing and manufacturing businesses across the world, managing, acquiring and optimizing these international businesses along the full value chain.
With his background as Certified Champion Deal Leader in Shell and negotiator for GE Oil & Gas and PSX, he now provides negotiation support for complex deals with suppliers, customers and industrial partners.
He supports large industrial companies with their M&A and JV strategy obtaining durable value from international Partnerships with suppliers and other companies in the value chain.
He successfully provides leadership to teams of young managers, coaching them to performance, transferring experience and being in demand as a mentor and career adviser.
He is Visiting Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam (Marketing Strategy).
MBA and BSc Mechanical Engineering degrees have been supplemented with executive programs at MIT, INSEAD, Shell and GE. The Energy Institute has endorsed him to use the title of Fellow (FEI).
His fluency in Dutch, English, Spanish, German, Portuguese and basic French and Italian supports his ability to operate both locally and globally, leveraging his wide and deep international network of senior executives.
Maarten has lived and worked many years in Latin America, Europe, and the US and worked long term projects in the Middle and Far East. He has developed a thorough understanding of different business cultures and is able to bridge these productively. He has a vast international network.
Van Hasselt is an accomplished coastal yachtsman and coaches yacht owners on offshore safety.
